A (very useful) peg

This style of peg is very common in Japan. Because they don't have washing lines, they have washing poles (see below). You can buy a dozen or more for only 100 yen (about AU$ 1.30). We've sent several packets home to various friends/relatives in Australia with young children. The pegs are useful for things like attaching bags to stroller handles or making indoor cubby houses. We are usually asked for more!

Never thought of giving these clothes pins as "omiyage"...thanks for the idea.

Love the pictures of I and R touring Aust. I am sure you were a blessing to them.

Isn't it funny how just little things like this can be so different in other countries, and we never realise. Years ago I sent a "snappy" nappy fastener (for cloth diapers for any Americans reading this!) to my friend in NZ. She couldn't work out what to do with it, because their nappies were flanelette instead of the towelling used in Australia LOL ...

Flannelette nappies! I've tried some and they aren't exactly absorbent...all that to say, I love my Japanese pegs. Also great for attaching extra temporary curtains to curtain rails...
