It's been ages since I did a photo question. Can anyone who doesn't speak Japanese tell me the difference between these W and S packets of toilet paper (aside from the colour)?
I wondered if it had something to do with bidets (not sure what really but there seem to be a lot of high-tech toilets in Japan), but if I had only one guess, I think Simone's first one sounds good.

Can't zoom in on the photo enough, but is the W for "waffle" and S for "smooth" - talking about the texture of the paper?
Ummmm,wild guess.... S is for septic (tissue suitable for septic systems) and W is for seWer for use in systems connected to city plumbing?
Ideas:
1. One of them is for a Western toilet and one for a Squat toilet.
2. One of them is made from recycled milk cartons.
Is either guess right?

Hmmm, nope. Creative guesses, but no one's hit on it yet.
A (slightly negative) hint: it has nothing to do with the type of toilet it is used in.
Answer coming tomorrow.
One is White and one is Stone coloured. :) ... OK, so I know that's probably not it, but it was worth a try.
The 'w' one has Washi in it?
S = single ply
W = double (you!) ply
One is soy scented and the other wasabi scented.
One is made from recycled paper and the other from non-recycled? No idea which would be which in that case.
I did get a smile out of Deb's answer though.
