I think it must be a silkie rooster. We had a hen, she was our favourite chook ever, but she didn't have an obvious comb. The website I looked them up on says they have a "walnut shaped comb", which is probably a more flattering description than "brain" shaped!
But when my son saw the picture on your blog, he said "why does it have a brain there?"
Caroline, yes it is a silkie. The names of the chickens are printed on the calendar. My husband and I laughed when we heard you son's comment. Exactly the same reaction as our boys!
