What you don't know about Parenting an Autistic Child

I came across this raw, beautiful article a couple of weeks ago: What Parents of Autistic Children Will Never Tell You

Some disabilities are
harder to understand
than others. Autism and
Autistic Spectrum Disorders
(like Aspergers) are in that
category.

I checked it with a friend who has a six year old boy who's autistic. She said she could have written every word in it. So it is worth a look. Even if you don't know someone who is directly affected by autism, you might find your family in this (true) situation, unintentionally breaking someone else's heart:
On Sunday, when I took him out for a milkshake. (He was) lying on the floor outside the toilets waiting for his favourite one to be free. (I) watched two boys about his age stare at him and giggle. They weren't being mean but still.
By the way, this month is Autism Awareness Month.
