Wedding photos

Today is our 14th wedding anniversary. We don't have anything special planned, thankfully, because we were up half the night with a small medical emergency for one of our kids (all fixed now, except for tiredness). Interestingly I look back at my blog note for this time last year and it was also a day preceded by lack of sleep, though for a different reason.

So, in leiu of any other plans, I thought that simply scanning some wedding photos and proudly displaying them to the world was as good as any other thing I could think of to do on an anniversary while my husband is at school and one tired boy is asleep upstairs. So, here we go. Just a few favourite photos from our wedding album.
David rang me before we left for the church. The photographer caught me talking to my groom on this old phone.
Outside the church

On the edge of the Great Dividing Range looking west from Toowoomba towards Ipswich (for those of you who know the area).
Not many of the photos have me looking like a radiant bride. I think the lead-up to the event was too stressful for me. It took several days after the wedding for me to regain my usual appetite.
The gorgeous wedding party.
The groom and his new father-in-law. I love this photo because it shows Dad interrupting David's speech to explain a joke he'd made in his own speech that no one had really understood. It was something about a turtle. . .
Looking happier. We had some great speeches.
14 years ago on this day.

  4. Yes, Cath, we are. But we've still got a bit left in the tank, don't you think?

  5. Which church was it? Do I recognise the backdrop of Toowoomba South Pressy or was it somewhere else?

  6. Yes Karen, you're right. What is your Twmba connection again?

  7. We lived/worked in Toowoomba for a couple of years, from 1997-99. And went to South Toowoomba Presbyterian church while we lived there. We got married in Toowoomba too (1998), but not in the church, in the botanical gardens. It was just before the Carnival of Flowers. The church was our wet weather backup venue though!

  8. Beautiful pictures! We just celebrated our 16th anniversary last week.

May the Lord bless your marriage with joy and make your lives fruitful always.

  9. Congratulations on 14 years. I'm wondering how long the average Aussie marriage lasts these days, and thinking you guys are on the high side of it. May there be many, many more happy anniversaries to come, hopefully with less drama on the previous day/night than the last couple.

  10. Oh Karen, we were so close to meeting! Our wedding was there in '97 on Carnival Saturday.

That means you know the Seccombs (?sp) too. Are you in contact with Rachel at all?

Were you working in Twmba at the time?

And KarenK - yes, less drama would be great.

  11. We must have just missed eachother! ...we arrived in September '97, but it took a little while after that for us to find the church. We do know the Secombs, but haven't stayed in touch with them except I do know they are in Brisbane now...my parents are friends with Margaret's (?do I have the right name here) brother so I hear a little about what they're up to.
And I worked at Toowoomba Hospital, that was my first specialist paeds position. It was good, but we moved on so I could get some more skills working with little kids (mainly was seeing school aged kids when I was there).

  12. Well, it wasn't as if I was living in Twmba in '97. I haven't lived there since '90. But my parents are there, so we visit regularly, but they've never gone to Sth Twmba Pressie.

I did do some ProfDev at the Base when I worked in Kingaroy between '95 and early '97. Then later we did deputation at Sth Twmba as we prepared to go to Japan. That must have been in '99 or 2000.

Rachel and her husband are good friends. And yes, her mum is Margaret.

Less than seven degrees of separation!
